When was the last time you spent some quality time with your family? If you are still trying to remember, start making plans for this weekend. Start the shopping list, grab a lot of snacks and check out this list of 20 family movies.

  1. Home Alone (1990) – We know, Christmas time is not even close, but this movie is a classic. Watch Kevin’s adventures while he tries to get rid of the two burglars. You and your family will have a blast!
  2. The Sound of Music (1965) – Who can forget the wonderful Julie Andrews and the amazing songs from this movie? And by the way, let’s not forget that this motion picture won 5 Oscars. Definitely one of our favorite things.
  3. Harry Potter Series – If you love Harry Potter, then it’s obvious that you can’t watch only one movie. Enter in a world of mystery with your family and remember how fun was to believe in magic.
  4. Mary Poppins (1964) – We met Julie Andrews once again, but this time magic is on her side. Get your umbrellas and play the movie!
  5. The Lion King (1994) – Simba is in search of his identity and he will face loss, love and victory. A must-see!
  6. Inside Out (2015) – If you need a good laugh you really must see this one. Even if it’s an animation, both kids and adults will enjoy it!
  7. Babe (1995) – Babe, a pig raised by sheepdogs, learns to herd sheep with a little help from Farmer Hoggett. A wonderful story for a Friday evening!
  8. Finding Nemo (2003) – After Nemo is captured in the Great Barrier Reef and taken to Sydney, a timid clownfish sets out on a journey to bring his son home. Adventure waits!
  9. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) – Charlie wins a golden ticket to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory and it turns out that there’s an adventure in everything. Make sure to have some chocolate close to you!
  10. Doubtfire (1993) – After a bitter divorce, an actor disguises himself as a female housekeeper to spend time with his children held in custody by his former wife. If you love Robbin Williams, you will love this movie too!
  11. T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) – A troubled child summons the courage to help a friendly alien escape Earth and return to his home world.
  12. Wall-e (2008) – Another Academy Award Winner for the best Animated Feature Film in 2009 goes to the small waste-collecting robot Wall-e. Embark on a space journey that will decide the fate of mankind.
  13. Hachiko: A Dog’s Tale (2009) – Don’t forget to add some napkins on your shopping list for this one. A touching story about the bond between Hachiko and his human.
  14. Mamma Mia (2008) – This is a story of a bride-to-be trying to find her real father. Oh, and the songs are from the popular ’70s group ABBA.
  15. Enchanted (2007) – What happens when fairytales are combined with real life? Find out from this enchanted movie that will steal your heart and that will make you sing!
  16. The Little Prince (2015) – Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s book (Le Petit Prince) came to life in this marvelous animation. Find the whole story and more than that! The whole family will enjoy it!
  17. Up (2009) – Seventy-eight year old Carl Fredricksen travels to Paradise Falls in his home equipped with balloons, inadvertently taking a young stowaway.
  18. Ratatouille (2007) – Anyone can cook! This is Remi’s belief, even though he is a rat. Will his dream of becoming a cook come true?
  19. How to Train Your Dragon (2010) – A hapless young Viking who aspires to hunt dragons becomes the unlikely friend of a young dragon himself, and learns there may be more to the creatures than he assumed.
  20. 101 Dalmatians (1996) – Last but not least we end our list with a funny and famous proposal. If your children love dogs, they will find 101 reasons to watch this movie.
